Mich Turner MBE is founder of Little Venice Cake Company and is often described as ‘Queen of Couture Cakes’, thanks to her multi-award winning designs and A-list clientele. She has made over 10,000 cakes including those for Her Majesty The Queen, Madonna, Pierce Brosnan, Ozzy Osbourne, Cheryl Cole, Gordon Ramsay, David Beckham, and Simon Cowell. She originally trained as a Food Scientist and was Patisserie Buyer at Harvey Nichols, before founding her hugely successful Little Venice Cake Company in 1999.
Among her many awards and accolades, Mich was named Harper’s Bazaar & CHANEL Entrepreneur of the Year 2006, and in 2009 Little Venice Cake Company was listed in the Walpole Luxury Brands of Tomorrow. In 2010 she was honoured with receiving an MBE for her services to the catering industry.
A successful writer and author, Mich contributes to various publications and has written five international and bestselling books; Fantastic Party Cakes, Couture Wedding Cakes, Spectacular Cakes (Gourmand World Cookbook Awards ‘Best Dessert Book’ 2006), Mich Turner's Cake Masterclass: The Ultimate Guide to Cake Decorating Perfection, and Mich Turner's Cake School: Expert Tuition from the Master Cake Maker, published September 2014 in the UK by Jacqui Small, March 2015 in the USA by Rizzoli, and Estonia and Brazil in 2015.
Her sixth book, ‘Have Your Cake and Eat It’ is published in the UK and USA in March 2017.
Mich is regularly on our TV screens, most recently as judge alongside Peter Sidwell in the hugely successful double series Britain’s Best Bakery, which was among ITV’s top 5 best performing daytime shows 2014 and nominated for a ‘Best Daytime’ National TV Award. Other credits include Royal Recipes, The Saturday Show, The Alan Titchmarsh Show, This Morning (ITV), The Ultimate Celebrity Wedding (Channel5), Sweet Baby James, Ready Steady Cook (BBC2), Market Kitchen, Bake! Mich is an accomplished speaker on business and entrepreneurship, and is the annual presenter and special guest speaker at the Scottish Bakers Conference and Awards. She has also presented talks for British Society of Baking, HSBC, Barclays Wealth, NSPCC, and Sainsbury’s Magazine. Events include Cake International, The Cake and Bake Show, BBC Good Food Show, and she headlined the Americas Cake and Sugarcraft Fair in Florida in 2015.
As an authority on the subject of cake baking and decoration, Mich has created cakes for luxury and premium brands including Dr.Oetker, Allinson’s, Baileys, Sandeman Port, Divine Chocolate, Silver Spoon, Wall’s, Laurent Perrier, and retailers Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Liberty, Harvey Nichols, Sainsbury, Tesco, Morrisons, and Marks & Spencer. In 2016 she designed a spring cookie for sale in all Barnes and Noble store cafés in the USA.
Mich has launched a global range of cake decorating tools and bakeware under her LVCC brand and has recently granted her first franchise in Kuwait.
